Talk-in was on 146.52 because Jim's marine radio will only operate on simplex and 146.52 was the simplex frequency that was programmed in. Those people who didn't have boats were ferried over to the boat-in campground by those who did have boats.
The real fun began when we got to the campground. Ken N6MHG demonstrated proper technique for stepping out of the boat into the water (since there was no doc), slipping in the mud and falling all the way into the water -- all the while holding his dual band HT "in the clear". Yep, all that could be seen of him was his head and outstretched arm holding his HT in the dry. Nothing like starting the day off with a laugh! If only we had a photo of that one...
The next task was getting all of our equipment up the (slightly muddy) bank to the camp and fire pit area. After that, it was cool drinks, good food, good company and playing in the water or on the boats. What a fantastic way to close out the summer! We think we'll be making this a regular annual outing.
